Although they have been releasing records since ‘01, the Austin-based group Shearwater has just now made a blip on my radar. A friend of mine suggested them a couple of weeks ago, sending me over to their official site and MySpace page to check out a few of their tunes. The few songs I was able to check out from their new album, Palo Santo, are genius. Equal parts Americana and indie rock, some of their newer material makes me think of a slightly twangier Sunny Day Real Estate.
They are currently on the road, sharing a string of dates with Court And Spark. I’ve heard that they are damn good live, so make a point to check these Texans out!
