Could Top Of The Pops Be Saved?

A few weeks ago we told you about the funeral axe coming down on the 42 year old show, Top Of The Pops. Now, a new development has come into play questioning the original decision.

Gigwise reports that BPI Chairman Peter Jamieson spoke out against the BBC’s choice to can the program stating, “A strong body of opinion exists within this organisation that there is still potential in the TOTP brand. This is despite the damage done over the past few years – and, in particular, by some of the statements made about the brand over the past month”.

It is rumored that BPI (the British record industry’s trade association) has also offered to revive the show all by themselves, without the help of the BBC. No word from the BBC yet on this matter, but rest assured that we will keep you in the loop.
