Happy Mondays Complete New Album

Break out your baggy pants and get ready to get your Madchester groove on, as Happy Mondays have finally completed recording their new album. What makes this such a big deal is that it has been fourteen years since their last album. Fourteen years!!! The supersized Shaun Ryder and the rest of the group worked with producers Sunny Levine and Howie B, resulting in their first full-length release since Yes, Please back in 1992.

The UK’s 6 Music spoke with producer Howie B about the album, during which he said: “It’s really exciting, quite incredible. It’s Shaun back on it. Shaun’s a diamond. He’s singing well, he’s rapping well, his lyrics are just right on it. His language, which was always unique, has got even better. And he looks great. I wouldn’t say he looks sexy, but he looks great.”

Ryder may need to give Jenny Craig a call, and the Happy Mondays are currently without a record deal, but we are damn excited to hear their new material. To celebrate the good news, I will be blaring Pills ‘n’ Thrills And Bellyaches for the rest of the day. In fact, I very well might do the baggy pants dance at some point. “Kinky Afro” and “Step On” just bring that out in me.
