One of our favorite labels, Paper Bag Records (home to Controller.Controller, Uncut, Tokyo Police Club, Stars, etc.) has signed a new band, Under Byen, and is gearing up for their first international release.

Under Byen (pronounced ‘ohna boon’, meaning ‘under the city’) is an eight-piece band hailing from Denmark that has been gaining popularity throughout Europe for years. Their newest album, Samme Stof Som Stof (’same fabric as fabric’) will be released on September 26. You can download an MP3 and check out a video below.

Refering to themselves as “experimental”, their sound is distinctly unique and hauntingly beautiful. You’ll occasionally hear some Bjork or Sigur Ros in their music, however they are capable of sounding nothing like any other bands you may be listening to.
