World Of Twist Frontman Dies

Some sad news was just forwarded to me regarding the Britpop group World Of Twist. Although they never made a blip here in the States, they did achieve success with songs such as “The Storm” and “Sons Of The Stage.” They may have been best known for their cover of The Rolling Stones’ “She’s A Rainbow,” produced by Martin Hannett. The band’s career ended abruptly in 1992, with frontman Tony Ogden leaving the life of rock & roll and retreating to his family’s home in northern England.

Although the cause is still unknown, the cult Madchester icon passed away on July 26. The songwriter was working on demos for his new project, The Bubblegum Secret Pop Explosion, up until his death. For those of you unfamiliar with World Of Twist, do yourself a favor and find a copy of their album Quality Street.

Tony Ogden, you will be missed.
