Kunek East Coast Tour Info, And Free Tickets!

I was first going to write about Stillwater, OK-based six-piece Kunek a few months ago when their debut album, Flight Of The Flynns, initially landed on my desk. The lush orchestration and moody, sophisticated arrangements contained within caught my ear with one listen. It reminded me of Sigur Ros, well… what Sigur Ros would sound like if their lead singer had testicles and sang in English, but you catch my drift. The music is grandiose and epic and definitely seems like it needs to be backed by an expensive lighting rig, complete with one or two of those sweet digital projectors.

Anyway… the album’s release ended up getting pushed back a little, but it’s now slated to hit the streets on Sept 12 via Playtyme Entertainment.

Prior to its release, the band has launched a quick little East Coast tour that includes three stops in NYC (including tonight at Pianos @ 9:30). We’re giving away a pair of tickets to ALL of their New York shows. First come, first serve, so don’t sleep. Just email if you want to go. Details below.

(if you live in Boston or Philly or Burlington and you ask really nice, we might be able to score you a pair for those gigs too)

08.17.06 – New York, NY (Pianos)
08.18.06 – Philadelphia, PA (World Cafe Live)

08.19.06 – New York, NY (Mercury Lounge)
