David Bowie To Appear On Spongebob Squarepants

Unlike most people, my first encounter with David Bowie was not by his singing, it was from a movie called Labyrinth. Gimme a break, I was five years old. Anyway, it looks like there is going to be a new generation of youngsters that will be introduced to the man whose career now spans more than four decades.

David Bowie announced on his blog that he is going to be in an upcoming episode of Spongebob Squarepants. He stated, “It’s happened. At last. I’ve hit the Holy Grail of animation gigs. Yesterday I got to be a character on….tan-tara…SpongeBob SquarePants. Oh Yeah!! We, the family, are thrilled. Nothing else need happen this year, well, this week anyway.”

The episode will air in about nine months, and Bowie will play a creature by the name of Lord Royal Highness. It’s no Extras, but it will do.
