Inara George Fronts The Bird And The Bee

Inara George dazzled us with her solo album, All Rise, which was release in January ‘05. Since then, she has done her fair share of touring as well as work on various new projects. One of these, The Bird And The Bee, is the result of a fruitful collaboration between Inara and Beck band member Greg Kurstin. The two discovered that they shared a love for jazz standards, began to record together, and ended up creating an album due out next year on Blue Note.

The new tunes mark an interesting direction for Inara, which you can hear on the group’s MySpace page. Fans of Stereolab and St. Etienne, as well as her solo album, will be very pleased with these fantastic songs. They sound mighty awesome! Although we won’t get the album until next year, Blue Note will be releasing an EP containing three songs from the LP plus Peaches’ remix of their song “Fucking Boyfriend.” Yes, Inara curses.

For our Los Angeles friends, you are in luck, as The Bird And The Bee is kicking off a month-long residency at the Silverlake Lounge tonight! You will definitely want to be there for this. The duo will also be performing on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic on October 26.
