Smashing Pumpkins Post Update From Studio

The bald wonder Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin are currently hard at work on the next album from the newly “reformed” Smashing Pumpkins. Since we still don’t know if James Iha or D’arcy Wretzky, or even her replacement Melissa Auf der Maur, are even a part of the album, it feels funny calling this a comeback album for the group.

NME checked out the Pumpkins’ MySpace page, where they discovered a recent journal posting from Chamberlin. He discussed the reunion, saying: “Great things are on track for the future. As some of you know we are indeed creating music again. Music that comes from a place so pure it will burn the lies off the very souls of those who try to discount it.”

The band has been working with producers Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars) and Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden), which should yield some interesting results. Chamberlin added: “The universe has a way of letting you know that things are right by introducing people like RTB and Terry into the fold. It’s all part of one big cosmic journey, in so that everyone reading this is hitching their silver chord to the Great Pumpkin Space Train! Hope this helps clear some things up for you.”
