The Cleansing Of YouTube Begins

Now that YouTube has some mega Google money behind it, it comes as to no surprise that copyrighted videos are already starting to come down at a much more rapid pace. According to the Wall Street Journal, everybody’s favorite video sharing website had to take down nearly 30,000 clips late last week.

The Japan Society For Rights Of Authors, Composers And Publishers asked that these files be taken down over copyright concerns. The clips were from various Japanese TV programs, music videos and movies. It is safe to say that this is only the beginning, which is a drag. We have enjoyed being able to find videos on demand from some of our favorite artists that are pretty much impossible to find elsewhere. Our suggestion is to watch them while you can, as their days may be numbered. YouTube will eventually just turn into an online version of America’s Funniest Home Videos, where you can watch hours upon hours of people lighting their own farts and getting punched in the crotch. Joy.
