The Pixies To Record New Album?

The on again off again new album from the Pixies appears to be, well, on again. In a recent interview with NME, frontman Frank Black revealed that the band will begin rehearsing in early 2007, if they can convince bassist Kim Deal to join them.

Black said: “We’re rehearsing in January, if we can persuade Kim to come out of her house. We offered to go to her but we figured if we book the rehearsals she’ll show up.”

If has been fifteen years since we last heard a new album from the legendary band, so why start now? Black answered this as he added: “We know we like playing and everyone likes touring together, so to keep doing that and not record anything is kind of like being a county fair band. We don’t want to do that, so the only thing we can do is become a vital band again. So it’s just a matter of doing it, I guess.”

So will it actually happen? Doubtful… but I guess anything is possible.
