Super Furry Animals Frontman Readies Second Solo Album

Fans of the Welsh group Super Furry Animals have plenty to look forward to in 2007. First, SFA’s frontman Gruff Rhys has completed work on his sophomore solo album, Candylion. This will be the follow-up to last year’s Yr Atal Genhedlaeth, and is currently scheduled for release in January. The first single off the new album, which is also the title track, will hit stores a month earlier on December 4. According to NME, the single features guest vocals by Lisa Jen from 9 Bach.

Although most of the new album was recorded with Gorwel Owen in Wales, Rhys did spend some time in Rio De Janeiro with SFA producer Mario Caldato Jr. Super Furry Animals are also wrapping up a new album, due for release at some point in 2007 via Rough Trade.

Two SFA-related albums in one year! 2007 is already shaping up to be a good one!
