More YouTube Content Gets Flushed

The days of finding the video clips you want on YouTube are rapidly coming to an end. The next company to step up to the plate was Viacom, who demanded that the video sharing site remove all clips from programming taken from Comedy Central. If you used to start your morning with a few highlight clips from The Daily Show, you’re out of luck. Will the newly purchased YouTube run out of steam once content of this type is all removed, leaving nothing but videos of high school kids belching on their webcams? If Viacom has asked for Comedy Central clips to be removed, it would be safe to assume that their other properties such as MTV and VH1 are next. Awww, no more videos from Flavor Of Love? NOOOOOO!

Hypebot also found a news bit about a new partnership between MySpace and Gracenote. By using the company’s MusicID technology, unapproved copywrited music will be blocked from the insanely popular social networking site. Once this is in place, those who attempt to upload unauthorized music will have their accounts deleted. Once MusicID in implemented, it should be interesting to see what artists must do to keep their music available on their pages.
