Lizard King Records Launches In US With The Pierces

Remember back when The Killers were a somewhat unknown buzz band? If you were on the ball and picked up their early imports, you might remember that they were released on Lizard King Records in the UK. The label has just launched a branch here in the US, kicking things off with the release of NYC’s The Pierces’ album in February ‘07.

For those unfamiliar with The Pierces, they are the duo of sisters Catherine and Allison. Their indie-folk got the attention of Strokes’ guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr., who is bringing them along to perform at his sold-out UK shows later this month. Their live shows are being backed by some mighty awesome musicians, including Russell Simins of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Shannon Ferguson of Longwave, Sammy James Jr. of Mooney Suzuki and Ben Bromley of Fischerspooner. Impressive!

While we wait for their Roger Grenawalt (Ben Kweller, Adam Green) produced album, Thirteen Tales Of Love And Revenge, the songs “Boy In A Rock’n'Roll Band” and “Go To Heaven” are both available for download below.
