Damon Albarn Supergroup Details

You may have heard the rumors… “psssst. Damon Albarn is working on a new project and it’s supposed to be awesome.” Well those rumors just happen to be completely true. The project is called The Good, The Bad & The Queen. It’s a new band featuring Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Paul Simonon (The Clash), Tony Allen (Africa 70, Fela Kuti) and Simon Tong (The Verve).

The band will release their 12-song, self-titled debut album on January 23 via Virgin Records in the US. Over two years in the making, the project was intended to capture modern life in West London. “[it is] a series of letters and historical stories and moments in time,” says Albarn. “It’s not a nostalgic play on Englishness. It’s more about what I think it is to be English now. I think we’ve made a record that has quite a fresh approach to this part of London.”

Bottom line, this is a record you’ll want to pick up.

You can stream the first single, “Herculean,” below (it’s also available for download on iTunes). There’s some behind-the-scenes-ish video clips of the guys in action embedded below as well.
