Tomorrow, (Friday, December 1) is World AIDS day. I won’t get into the details of why it’s important to do your part to help raise awareness and money to help fight this very serious disease… because you already know, right? And besides, I’m not a celebrity, and everyone knows that people only listen to celebrities when it comes to serious topics like illness and fair trade, so what’s the point. I’ll just tell you about two really easy ways to help.

A) Light To Unite

Organized by Bristol-Myers Squibb, this is by far the easiest way to help. Just click this link, move your curser over the candle and click to light it. For each candle lit, Bristol Myers Squibb will donate $1, up to $100,000. I’m sure that’s less than their C.E.O. spends on socks per year, but hey, every little bit helps, right?

B) MmmmmBop For AIDS

This one comes from Hanson, yes the kids that brought you “MmmmBop.” (I know they’ve shunned their major label status and are all “indie rock” now and stuff, but they’ll always be those cute little blond boys who sing “MmmmBop” to me). Hanson has made the song “Great Divide,” the first single from their new album, available exclusively on iTunes. All proceeds from this download will go to the Perinatal HIV Research Unit in Soweto, South Africa – a hospital that helps reduce the transmission of pre-natal HIV/AIDS. This one will cost you 99 whole cents, but I think it’s worth it. Here’s a direct link.
