Silversun Pickups’ debut LP, Carnavas, is hitting stores on July 25 via Dangerbird Records. After following this brilliant Los Angeles band for the past few years, we were thrilled with the release of their Pikul EP last year. SSPU blew us away at their CMJ performance this past fall, rocking one of my favorite shows of 2005. Beautifully loud guitars colliding with frontman Brian Aubert’s raspy vocals, backed by his uber-talented bandmates Nikki Monninger (bass/vocals), Christopher Guanlao (drums) and Joe Lester (keys), SSPU makes rock music that is really beyond description. They are just really, really good.
We were fortunate enough to get an early copy of Carnavas, but we kinda felt guilty that we couldn’t share the tunes with all of you. The kind people at Dangerbird decided that this album is too good to keep from our Tripwire readers, so we can now give you all a sneak peek at one track off this amazing album.
