Be Your Own Pet have been poised to be “the next big thing” even since their debut single “Damn Damn Leash” took the online music community by storm. All born between 1987 and 1988, this rock quartet has already toured with the Kills, Le Tigre and Electrelane. BYOP caught the ear of Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, who had been following the band since he ordered their first CD-R in 2004. He liked these kids so much that he decided to sign them to his label, Ecstatic Peace/Universal, and will be releasing their debut LP on June 6th.
To get us warmed up, the band recently released the Summer Sensation EP, which includes a couple of tracks off the upcoming full-length album. If you are unfamiliar with Jemina’s off the hook vocals, check out the streaming audio below. Both tracks can be found on the forthcoming LP.
After their album hits stores, the band is hitting the road for the month of June, including a few dates with Sonic Youth! BYOP is going to take the US by storm this summer, so get ready!
