Johnny Marr Joins Modest Mouse

Rumors have been swirling around for a while that the one and only Johnny Marr was going to collaborate with Issac Brock on the next Modest Mouse record. What started off as a temporary gig has now gone full-time, as the legendary Smiths guitarist is now officially a member of the band.

Rolling Stone broke the story yesterday evening, announcing that Marr and the Mouse are in a full-time relationship. Brock said: “He made a cautious commitment to write and record with us, and then the tighter we got, he was like, ‘okay, let’s tour too.’ Then he was pretty much a member of the band - not pretty much. He’s a full-blown member of the band. It’s really fuckin’ nice.”

Yeah, I think it is safe to say that having Johnny Marr is your band is definitely “fuckin’ nice.” The new MM album is tentatively named We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which MAY come out this fall.
