Bono Named Honorary Knight

While you were stuffing your face with loads of food and rolling around in wrapping paper this holiday season, U2’s Bono was being knighted.

That’s right; Bono was awarded an honorary knighthood by the Queen for his services to the music industry and for his humanitarian work. Tony Blair commented in a letter to him, “You have tirelessly used your voice to speak up for Africa.” Unfortunately though we can’t refer to him as Sir Bono, since he is not of British birth.

In other knightly news, Morrissey has stated that he will never be knighted because of a little song called “The Queen Is Dead,” even though he thinks that he is more deserving than some other honorary knights out there. In Mexico Morrissey stated, “Just look at who has been honoured already. Mad Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell has an MBE [Member of the Order of the British Empire] and obese Jamie Oliver has an OBE [Officer of the Order of the British Empire].”

Now, now kids. Let’s play nice.
