Help Out J. Robbins’ Son

When news of an upcoming benefit to help out J. Robbins’ (producer / member of Jawbox) son Callum arrived in my inbox, I had to help spread the word. Callum, who will turn one year old on January 27, was diagnosed with a motor neuron disease called Type 1 SMA, or Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This disease is often fatal, and the treatment is unbelievably expensive. As an independent musician and rock producer, paying for his son’s treatments could push his family into bankruptcy.

Record label BCore, located in Barecelona, is organizing a benefit concert in Spain to help Robbins and his family to take care of some of the expenses of treating Callum. The band AINA will reunite for a performance, who will be joined by No More Lies. If you happen to be near Barcelona, the benefit concert will take place on February 3 at the Apolo. For the rest of us, DeSoto Records has posted a page with more information on Callum’s condition, as well as ways to make donations to the Robbins family.
