Download – Prosser “I Met A Girl”

When his former band (Bellingham, Washington’s spacerock outfit Delay) bit the dust in 2003, Eric Woodruff packed his bags and headed out to Seattle where he almost immediately began outlining song ideas on his 4-track with a cheap drum set and a couple of microphones. These early recordings laid the groundwork for Prosser, Woodruff’s new indie rock/alt country/folk solo project.

Those early sketches turned into a self-titled Prosser LP and led to a record deal with small Bellingham, Washington-based indie Clickpop Recrds. Woodruff plays all of the instruments on the entire album (except cello), making it a clear labor of love. The blood, sweat and tears he poured into Prosser shine through and create a cohesive, emotional and dynamic 14-song offering, a sample from which, “I Met A Girl,” you can download below.

The album was originally slated for release in 2006, but shortly before its scheduled street date, Clickpop signed a distribution deal with Rykodisc and the label decided to hold off on releasing the album until they could take advantage of their new arrangement. Prosser is now scheduled for nationwide release in April. If you are a fan of Elliott Smith, Ryan Adams, Matt Pond PA, Margot And The Nuclear So And Sos, or even the more mellow moments of Nada Surf, you might want to take a stab at Prosser.
