Brooklyn-by-way-of-Chapel Hill, NC, quintet The Comas will release their Vagrant Records debut (4th album over all) on April 17. Called Spells, the new album was produced by Dave Fridmann pupil Bill Racine (Rogue Wave, Mates Of State) in a studio in the Catskills. The whole experience was said to be a bit spooky and psychedelic, though the resulting album is actually a bit more along the lines of a guitar oriented pop offering. The band was nice enough to give us the first track from the album, “Red Microphones,” to offer up as a free download, so be sure to check that out below.

The Comas will be playing three shows down in Austin this year for SXSW. We have the details below. A full on tour will be announced shortly.
