Austin: The Whigs @ Levi’s/FADER Fort

Simply put, The Whigs are movers and shakers. With a sizeable crowd gathered for their second to last spot at Thursday’s Fort, these Georgians chomped down and ripped through a quick set that left ear drums rattling and necks sore.

Frontman Parker Gispert roped in the initial interest with his bouncing across the stage, shredding to his heart’s content while drummer Julian Dorio smashed the skins. Recent winner of Esquire’s “Drummer of the Year,” Dorio was a force to be reckoned with, supplying the trio with enough explosive energy to convince even the weariest Yankee. Each song was a crashing success and evidence that with a little love, The Whigs might stick around for awhile. They’re currently in the first stages of putting together what will surely be a much anticipated follow-up to their debut, Give ‘Em All A Big Fat Lip which is out now on ATO Records.
