Austin: Amy Winehouse @ Levi’s/FADER Fort

When you first see Amy Winehouse in person it’s really hard to figure out how the hell those sweet, sweet sounds come from that itty-bitty body. The good news is that she showed up to play (we heard she canceled all her Saturday appearances), but the bad news was that it was acoustic. We still love her though, and seeing her play with just a guitarist made the abbreviated set more intimate, and actually ended up being quite amazing.

Amy was in a good mood and didn’t mess around before belting out songs like “Back To Black,” a cover of The Zuton’s “Valerie,” (which happens to be her favorite song she said) and “Rehab.” When Amy closed with the aforementioned “Rehab,” the crowd went wild and chanted along during the chorus. If you needed any proof whatsoever that Amy Winehouse is worth the hype, this performance was it. We love Amy, and can’t wait to see her again soon.
