The Cribs Know What Women Need

We have been singing the praises of the Wakefield, UK trio The Cribs for a few years now. Their last album, The New Fellas, was that perfect blend of garage rock and pop that was gloriously low-fi and catchy as hell. Their live shows are just damn fun, which is why we’ve always wondered what has kept them from landing a larger core fan base here in the US.

For their next album, the Jarman Brothers have added some muscle to their team by signing with Warner Bros in the US. Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever is currently scheduled for release in North America this coming July, and it should be a doozie! Produced by Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), the album even features a guest appearance by Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth.

To catch an early taste of the album, The Cribs currently have the new track “Men’s Needs” streaming on their MySpace page. They definitely have a slicker sound than we’re used to, but we kinda like it. They’re coming to North America for a few dates this spring, and will be back this summer for a full-blown tour.
