Try to imagine walking into a room containing Ben Lee, Mandy Moore and the band Rooney. Would you be a little confused? If this had happened, you would have actually stumbled upon the recording sessions for Ben Lee’s upcoming new album, currently titled Ripe.
Lee is currently in the studio, working with producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, Ben Folds). This marks Lee’s first time in quite a while that he hasn’t had Brad Wood on producer duty, and that isn’t the only unique part of this upcoming album. So far he has enlisted the help of some pretty interesting folks to join him, including Benji Madden from Good Charlotte, Sara Watkins from Nickel Creek, the guys in Rooney and even Mandy Moore. Crazy, right?
Out of the eighty or so songs he has written, Lee is working on twenty-five in the studio, which will then be whittled down to make the album.
