Own The World’s First Ever Video Guitar

Duran Duran’s keyboardist, Nick Rhodes, has designed the world’s first ever prototype video guitar. However if you want it, you’re gonna have to be at a special auction taking place tomorrow in London.

So what is a video guitar? Basically it’s hand-crafted from a Fender Stratocaster and the internal architecture was carved out and replaced with electronics and a unique TV pixel screen that covers the face of the guitar. It is specially programmed to play abstract film footage all over the surface making the instrument an experimental video art piece.

Coined the “Pixelator,” this Fender guitar will be auctioned off as part of the Rock Couture Collection at Gibson Hall under Sotheby’s UK. Proceeds of the sale will go towards Keep A Child Alive, a New York-based global charity that helps provide life-saving Anti-Retroviral treatment to kids and families living with HIV/AIDS in third world countries.

If you cant make it out to London, you can still bid simultaneously through eBay by clicking here. Still confused about how it all works? Peep the clip below with Nick Rhodes talking about it.
