Metric Hits The Road

Metric is hitting the road for their first tour in over a year. We can collectively hear the boys’ hearts breaking in Detroit at the site of Emily in person. The group spent the first part of their summer in Toronto, in pre-production for their new record. They should head back to the studio in November and December to record it for an early 2008 release. Rumor has it some of the new tunes will be a part of their upcoming live dates.

When asked about the tour Emily commented, “We’ve missed our fans. We haven’t
toured in North America for about 18 months and it felt like time to
return. We’ve been writing in Toronto for the past few months and we’re
really excited to play the new songs for our live audience before we
press the record. Music can’t live in a vacuum! Once we finish this run
we’re going to start recording our triumphant studio masterpiece.”

Guitarist Jimmy Shaw continued, “We’ve always found it is really beneficial
to road test songs before recording them. It’s also great to give our
audience a chance to hear songs in their infancy before they get
committed to tape and have to go out into the world on their own. We’re
also going to try to make this tour a little more interactive than
normal by inviting fans to write our set lists and get in on some other
ideas we’re dreaming up as well. Can’t wait to see everybody again,
it’s gonna be fun. ”
