Stereolab + High Llamas = Awesome Soundtrack

Did you just catch a whiff of freshly baked baguettes in the air? Do you have the sudden urge to wear a black & white striped shirt and smoke a cigarette while sitting at a cafe? Yeah, you want to get your French on, don’t ya? Well, to help provide some tunes for such a craving, the soundtrack for director Marc Fitoussi’s new film, La Vie d’Artiste, should totally take care of ya.

Fitoussi recruited the musical awesomeness of Tim Gane (Stereolab) and Sean O’Hagan (High Llamas) for the soundtrack, which we expect to be mighty great. This marks the first time they have worked together as a duo since their one-off as Turn On, back in 1996. Too Pure will be releasing the double-disc album on September 11.

For Stereolab fans, you’ll be happy to know that the band is currently recording their next full-length album. According to their official website, drums, bass and some keyboards have already been recorded. Their currently unsure of an exact release date, but right now their hoping to get it in stores by early 2008.
