Kaiser Chiefs Cancel North American Gigs

The Kaiser Chiefs have announced that they are going to cancel part of their North American dates at the last minute in order to concentrate on recording new material. Cities that will miss the band include Detroit, Dallas, Toronto, Nashville, Houston and Atlanta.

Drummer Nick Hodgson spoke with NME about the ordeal saying, “”We’d like to apologise to fans in America and Canada, especially those who have already bought tickets, but something had to give. We’ve been extremely busy all year and had no time to focus on the future, we plan to have new material out as soon as possible and we’ve wanted to record all summer. This needs to happen before our European & UK shows at the end of the year so we can play a few of our new songs live, we’re keen to explore new ground, beyond the sound of our first two records, so we’re headed back into the studio to begin that process.”

The band still plans on playing Austin City Limits this weekend as well as a date in Mexico and New York City. However for the rest of you out there, it looks like you are going to have to make do with just signing along to “Ruby” really loudly in the pub by yourself.
