Rivers Cuomo To Release Demo Album + New Weezer

Okay Weezer fans… I hope you are sitting down for this one. Your beloved Rivers Cuomo will be releasing a compilation disc comprised of home demo recordings. The songs were recorded between 1992 and 2007, which will see the light of day on December 11 via Geffen Records. Titled Alone – The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo, this collection will be an interesting look at the history of Weezer throughout the years.

Cuomo made the announcement on his MySpace page, where he said: “I’ve compiled a CD of my favorite demos from the years 1992 to 2007 and Geffen Records has agreed to put it out this December, on the eleventh. I hope you enjoy it. I may also be able to put out more demo CD’s in the near future.”

Most of these tunes will be new to even the most obsessed Weezer fans, on which Cuomo plays every instrument on just about all of the tracks. He has also pieced together detailed liner notes, giving us insight into where he got the inspiration for each song.

In related news, Weezer’s sixth studio album has been completed and will be released at some point in 2008. It is currently being mixed, so hopefully more details will surface soon.
