Wait! A New B-52’s Album? What???

After a sixteen-year hiatus, it appears that the B-52’s have emerged from their slumber to record a new album. The legendary dance-rock-pop goofballs of “Rock Lobster” and “Love Shack” will be releasing Funplex on their new label home, Astralwerks.

The new tunes were recorded in their hometown of Athens, GA, with producer Steve Osborne (New Order, Doves). We can’t imagine that they’ve strayed far from the danceable fun of their older material, so this should be interesting. Guitarist Keith Strickland described Funplex as “loud, sexy rock and roll for your pleasure zones, with the beat pumped up to hot pink.” Consider our pleasure zones ready! The new album will hit stores on February 26, 2008.
