We’re mighty excited to see one of our current favorites, Bon Iver, join forces with the indie-tastic label Jagjaguwar. For those new to Bon Iver, which is French for “good winter” and purposely misspelled, is primarily the project of Justin Vernon. The story behind the debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago, really helps explain the beauty behind these songs.
Vernon packed up and moved out to a remote cabin in the woods of Northwestern Wisconsin. His intentions were simply to hibernate through the winter. Three months of solitude, with little more to do than chopping wood and taking care of various other chores, he began to write and record in lengthy twelve-hour blocks. The results speak for themselves, and will receive a proper release via Jagjaguwar in early 2008.
