Good ‘ol MySpace is joining forces with Oxfam America to throw a massive event called Rock For Darfur. Consisting of 31 concerts all around the globe, Rock For Darfur will benefit Oxfam’s Darfur, Sudan relief efforts and the whole thing takes place on November 10.
Last year’s Rock For Darfur raised $50,000, and the money went to 500,000 people in Chad and Darfur for supplies such as clean water, shelter, soap, blankets and disease prevention programs. This year should bring in even more since there are nine more cities rocking out for the cause than last year.
While a lot of the bands participating are what you would figure to be on a MySpace tour, there are some that are Tripwire approved, such as Wilco, Rouge Wave, The Decemberists, Hot Hot Heat, Minus 5 and Gabby Glaser of Luscious Jackson. Either way, it raises attention to a great cause, and that is what is most important.
