Indie Artists Show Off Guilty Pleasures On New Comp

Everybody has a few songs or artists that are considered guilty pleasures. Sure you might not admit it to your friends, but whenever Journey or perhaps Take That comes up on your iPod, you never skip it. Engine Room Records co-founder Peter Block came up with a pretty great idea, bringing some of the best indie artists together to record a cover of a guilty pleasure track for a compilation album.

The results can be found on Guilt By Association, on which you’ll find Devendra Banhart covering “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” Jim O’Rourke rocking “Viva Forever” and Luna putting a new spin on “Straight Up.” Yes, as in the Paula Abdul hit single. We’re pretty excited about hearing Superchunk take on “Say My Name” from Destiny’s Child. There are a few samples on the album’s MySpace page, which you should check out ASAP.

This amazing album will hit stores on August 28.
