On The Cover – Ezra Furman & The Harpoons

WEEK ONE :: PHOTO GALLERY

For our next installment of On The Cover, we must head over to the Windy City. Ezra Furman has remained under the radar up until now, but with the recent release of his album, Banging Down The Doors, we’ve got a hunch that he won’t be for much longer. Once music fanatics catch wind of his Dylan meets Violent Femmes rock madness, the secret will most definitely be out.

Ezra Furman joined forces with The Harpoons in 2006, eventually working with producer Brian Deck (Iron And Wine, Modest Mouse, Josh Ritter) to create their unbelievable debut album. When it came time to pick our next On The Cover artist, it was no contest. Over the next few weeks, we’ll bring you plenty of exclusive content to help you get to know Furman even better. Our own Jason Anfinsen spent a few days on the road with these dudes, the results of which should be legendary.

To get things started, we sent Evan Cohen out to photograph the band during one afternoon in Los Angeles. Good things seem to happen when you take a band out to LA and stumble upon a trampoline. After you’ve familiarized your eyes with Ezra Furman & The Harpoons, allow your ears to get up to speed by downloading the track “I Wanna Be Ignored” below.
