The English Beat’s Special Beat Service Turns 25

Today is a very special day in the world of music. September 28 just happens to mark the 25th anniversary of the release of The English Beat’s album Special Beat Service. Containing such reggae/ska/pop greatness as “Rotating Heads” and “Save It For Later,” we’ll be digging up our own copy of the album for an English Beat dance party here at the office this afternoon.

In related news, a little birdy just told us that English Beat frontman Dave Wakeling just happens to be currently working on a new English Beat album. YES! He also just cut some tracks with Thievery Corporation, so hopefully we’ll be hearing some new tunes before long.

We will definitely keep you all posted with any updates regarding new material from Wakeling and The Beat! In the meantime, here is the video for “Save It For Later” via the magic of YouTube. Enjoy!
