Elbow Readies Fourth Studio Album

As if there weren’t already enough albums to look forward to in ‘08, we can officially add Elbow to that list as well. The UK five-piece will be releasing their fourth studio album, The Seldom Seen Kid, in March. The band has also found a new home, leaving V2 for Fiction. We’re interested to see if and when Kid will hit stores here in the US.

Frontman Guy Harvey spoke with XFM about the new album, where he said it is “a reference to our friend Brian Clancy who died a couple of years ago. The Seldom Seen Kid is originally a character from a Damon Runyon book, and it was also one of my Dad’s mate’s nicknames in the ’70s when he worked in Manchester on the newspapers.”

About leaving V2, he added: “It was great for a few years and it’d be unfair to say we’d outgrown them, but that’s kinda what happened. It sounds very ungentlemanly, but we weren’t moving any further forward as a band.”
