New Peter Gabriel Single Finally Released

One thing that is definitely for sure is that when Peter Gabriel releases an album, film or other random project, it is quite an event. The influential experimental popster has been pushing the envelope for several decades, and he is not ready to head in to retirement any time soon.

Two bits of news recently surfaced from the Gabriel camp. For starters, his Real World Records has a new distributor here in the US. Ryko will be taking over distro here on our shores, which will be handling digital and physical releases as well as reissues with new packaging and potentially bonus material as well.

According to Bumpershine, this new deal will include Real World’s entire back catalog and future releases as well. The first new one will be Gabriel’s Big Blue Ball project, something he has been working on for an astonishing sixteen years. The first single from Ball
is a track titled “Whole Thing,” featuring Gabriel on keys and vocals, Tim Finn from Crowded House and Andy White from ALT on backing vocals, Karl Wallinger and Paul Allen Nord on guitars and Francis Bebey on flute. We find it interesting that Gabriel’s normal backing lads (bassist Tony Levin and guitarist David Rhodes) are not on this particular track.

You can pick up “Whole Thing” right now on iTunes.
