About a year ago the one and only Jarvis Cocker appeared on stage and performed a duet with The Gossip’s Beth Ditto at the NME Awards. The song they played was a cover of Heaven 17’s “Temptation,” and the blogs went crazy posting the little clip that appears below.
If you were itching to grab yourself a copy of the tune, then today is your lucky day. Rough Trade, Columbia and NME have announced that they are putting it out exclusively on iTunes, and all proceeds will be donated to housing charity Shelter. Jarvis Cocker commented about the track to Shelter saying, “It has taken a full twelve months for the world to be ready for this track – I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed performing it.” Shelter chief executive Adam Sampson added, “We are delighted that two of the hottest names in the music business are donating the profits from this single to us. By downloading ‘Temptation’ you’ll not only get a great track, but you’ll be raising money to help homeless and badly housed people across Britain.”
