It isn’t until you sit back and realize that R.E.M. are preparing to release their fourteenth studio album that you can truly realize the impact they have had in music history. Fourteen albums, now that is one hell of an accomplishment, something that few bands could ever dream of making happen.
R.E.M.’s latest, Accelerate, will be in stores on April 1. From the bits we’ve heard so far, it marks a true return to the rock sound of their sound, something we welcome with open arms. Although we’re hoping to see additional dates added to their itinerary, so far the band has announced thirteen tour dates, accompanied by Modest Mouse and The National. They will also be headlining the Langerado Music Festival on March 8 at the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in South Florida, as well as a night at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin on March 12 during SXSW.
