The Zutons Record New Album In Los Angeles

Zombie-rockers The Zutons have been working on their third full-length album in Los Angeles. They brought producer George Drakoulias (Black Crowes, Primal Scream, Tom Petty) on board at the Sunset Sound Studios to help craft their new material, which will be released in the UK this summer. The album will be titled You Can Do Anything, which will be preceeded by the single “Always Right Behind You” on May 26. Zane Lowe has already spun the track, which you can hear on the band’s MySpace page.

On making the new album, frontman Dave McCabe said: “At first I was a bit scared at the thought of going to LA to make this album because we’ve never been away to record before. Since we’ve got here it’s been sound though, we’ve been buzzing off the Americans, it’s taken our heads to a different place and it’s brought us closer together. Sometimes you have to go a million miles away or get on a plane for ten hours to get closer together.

George (the producer) is funny as fuck, he’s like a walking jukebox and he’s getting a good vibe in the room. It definitely feels different with an American producer than what we’re used to and I think that’s a good thing for us now.”

Hopefully we’ll get some information regarding a US release of the new album soon.
