Doves Looking To Complete Album Before Fall

On a whim, we hopped over to Doves’ official website to see what they have been up to lately. We knew that a new album was in the works, but it had been quite some time since the UK group had given fans much of an update. Fortunately, the band recently posted a blog entry, reconfirming that they were indeed working on the proper full-length follow-up to 2005’s Some Cities, some new songs were now in the mixing phase, and some tour dates could quite possibly pop up later this year. They’re aiming to have their fourth studio album in the can by the end of summer. Here is the full post from Doves’ blog:

Hi all,
Sorry not been any word from us for a while, but there’s been no real news here apart from our usual writing / recording. Rest assured we are working all the time and not just in the pub or hoovering the garage! We aim to have this record finished by the end of summer, songs are already starting to be mixed.

STOP PRESS!!! News just in…

We might be treading those boards again this September with a couple of UK gigs, nothing’s confirmed yet and we can’t give you details, but you’ll be the first to know when things are going to happen (we are gonna try and work out some free tickets for the faithful on doves.net) it’ll be great to step out into the outside world again and play some of these new songs live.
