Exclusive Download – Heartbreak “Influences” Mix

The London-based electronic disco duo Heartbreak just came through New York on their tour with the Presets and Cut Copy and instead of asking them the menial “influences” question, we asked the Argentine singer Sebastian Muravchix and producer Ali Renault to provide a mix of their influences for us – and vicariously, for you.

Fusing the finer qualities of electro, Italo-disco and metal, Heartbreak has begun to win over fans worldwide with powerful synth-pop, a formidable live reputation and the Lex Records-released single “We’re Back” – the lead single from their Lex debut full-length Lies, which incidentally comes out today. Heartbreak have also contributed a version of “Loving the Alien” to K7’s new compilation of David Bowie covers entitled Life Beyond Mars, alongside covers by Carl Craig, Matthew Dear and Kelley Polar.

The songs in the “Influences” mix represent the wide array of references Muravchix and Renault employ into their sound. In their words, “Heartbreak are just as influenced by Black Sabbath, Detroit Techno, etc. as they are Disco…” They didn’t mention Miami Vice theme songs in their e-mail, but it’s a nice touch.
