Win All Four Replacements’ Re-Issue CDs

Last week Rhino released expanded reissues of the Replacements’ final four albums for Sire Records. Featuring a host of previously unreleased bonus tracks, we have all four of them to give away to 10 lucky winners. Do you think you know more about the Replacements than the rest of our readers? Do you think you can scour the internet faster than the rest of our readers? Then now is the time to prove it, because this contest is interactive.

We have 10 full sets of the four re-issues, which include the classics; Tim, Pleased to Meet Me, Don’t Tell a Soul, and All Shook Down. Because Replacements fans are a dedicated bunch, we’ve decided to award those who know way too much about the band, but don’t fret, even if you’re a fair-weather fan or just want a little lunchtime reprieve, we haven’t forgotten about you. Below are four questions, the first five contestants to e-mail us with the correct answer will win a prize pack. The other five winners will be drawn randomly on Friday at 6pm EST from a list of all the people who answered correctly throughout the week.*

1. How old was founding member and bass player Tommy Stinson when they released their first album, Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash on August 25, 1981?
He was 14 years old (born on October 6, 1966)

2. What fellow burgeoning Minneapolis, MN band did the Replacements often get comparisons to, spurring a friendly band rivalry between the two?
Hüsker Dü

3. Often cited as one of the first indie bands to sign to a major label, what was their first official major label release?
Tim

4. What two bands did Tommy Stinson play bass for after the Replacements broke up?
We were looking for Bash & Pop and Guns n’ Roses, but would’ve also accepted Soul Asylum

*Please make sure to include your current contact info in responses. E-mails not already on our mailing list will be added.
