Vampire Weekend To Play Benefit This Sunday With David Crosby & Graham Nash

Finally the boys in Vampire Weekend are playing a show with a ticket price to match their wardrobe.

In the musical equivalent of political pandering, indie faves Vampire Weekend are teaming up with some big names for a special fundraising event to benefit Music For Democracy. This private event will take place this Sunday, October 12th at St. Raphael’s Cathedral in New York City. With a general admission ticket price of a $100, don’t be surprised if your wallet literally jumps out of your pocket and slaps you. In all fairness, all of the proceeds go to Music for Democracy’s “Be the Change Get Out The Vote” campaign, who is hoping to “engage thousands of young voters, increasing youth voter turnout this November in support of Sen. Barack Obama.” And don’t worry, in case you can’t foot the $500 VIP donor tickets or the sponsor-level donor tickets for $1,000, a limited number of $50 general admission tickets will be made available.

The night will kick off with an exclusive reception for sponsors and VIP donors, followed by intimate, short acoustic sets by the artists for all Music for Democracy (MFD) supporters. The launch will also feature a panel discussion with Q&A on music and political activism with Air America’s David Bender, Democracy for America’s Jim Dean and others. Tickets are available here.
