Derek Hess Giving Away Obama Poster With New Politically Inspired Book

Some artists are shameless promoters of their art, while others like to stay a bit more behind the scenes. Being one to normally “hide” behind his artwork, or the bands he depicts, Derek Hess is a pop artist who lives in the realm of fine art. His work has graced the walls of hundreds of galleries and museums throughout the world and is part of the permanent collection of the Louvre and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but like many people this year, Hess has found a reason in Barack Obama to bring back the pop.

To celebrate Barack Obama’s victory in this year’s Presidential election, Derek Hess will be giving away a free Obama poster with every purchase of his latest book, Please God Save Us, which is a collaboration from Hess and award-winning Cleveland-area elected official and head of the Democratic party in Euclid, Ohio, Kent Smith. Featuring over 50 pieces of Hess artwork, the book covers a wide range of topics, all of which are ripped from US headlines. Thought provoking visuals and words address an array of important subjects including the Religious Right, Iraq War, censorship, evolution and global warming to name a few. High resolution images, spreads from the book and the Obama poster are available for download here.
