Damon Albarn Confirms All Four Blur Bandmates To Rehearse In 2009

It’s official. Damon Albarn told the BBC today that Blur will reunite in 2009, and that means all four of them — including guitarist Graham Coxon. Albarn spilled the beans on the reunion just before a performance of his opera Monkey: Journey To the West at the BBC Radio Theatre in London this afternoon.

Just before the show, host Janice Long asked Albarn whether or not the rumors were true about a possible Blur reunion. Albarn’s response: “Blur are certainly going to rehearse and see if we’re into it.” Having all four members back in one studio will definitely be interesting, as Coxon only appeared on one track of 2003’s Think Tank, having left the group a year before its release.

Reports have been springing up for the past few weeks of friendly lunches and other meetings between the band members, but with all the cries of wolf over the past four years, Blur fans had learned better than to get their hopes up. Now, they just might have a reason. You can listen to Long’s full interview with Albarn on BBC Radio2 this Saturday at 7 p.m. GMT/2 p.m. EST.
