NY Eye & Ear Celebrates Homegrown Music This Weekend

If you’re anywhere near New York this weekend, chances are you’ll be able to feel it — the sheer joy of tons of people simultaneously discovering tons of new music will probably radiate for miles, and it’ll be thanks to New York Eye and Ear, the two-day music festival creation of Todd Brooks and Pendu that has been a long time in the making.

The fest (and accompanying record fair) kicks off tomorrow at 2 p.m., and over the course of the weekend will feature more than 35 bands and more than 30 record labels, all New York City home-grown originals. Everything goes down at Vanishing Point in Brooklyn, from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. each day, with weekend passes at $15 and day passes at $8 for Friday and $10 for Saturday. The record fair kicks off Friday at 2, with the represented labels taking turns playing music, and bands start at 7 p.m. On Saturday, bands start at 2 and play until the nightly dance party gets going at 1:30 a.m.
